Since she had always paid everything in cash, her credit score was a lot lower than it should have been. She had not had the opportunity to build credit because of always paying in cash.

A lot of young people who have not had time to build credit yet will often find themselves in the same situation. Without having any credit, a car loan will be difficult. It seems that there are so many charitable causes that you cannot begin to give to all of them. My husband and I give to our church and the charities that it sponsors. That is the bulk of our cash donations. We also give to the food shelf and donate clothing and house hold items to the homeless and needy. It was not until my sister developed cancer that I thought about donating to medical research.

Eighteen months ago my sister called me to let me know that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This came as a huge surprise to both of us because there is no history in our family. She is an x-ray technician so she is very aware of the importance of getting mammograms and she has been getting one every year since she was forty years old. It was during her annual mammogram that the lump showed up on the test. The doctors told her all of her options and shared with her that they thought she would be a good candidate for a new treatment. There have been many advancements in breast cancer research and they wanted to try a new chemotherapy on her. Since my sister is in the medical field she has always had an interest in new research. She was willing to try the treatments. If they did not work they would remove her breast. They explained that she would not be risking the cancer spreading because the type she had was slow to develop, and they felt that it was at a very early stage. The breast cancer research that developed the treatments they were to use on her was done at the Mayo Clinic.

I called our nephew who is a pharmaceutical researcher at the Mayo and asked him if he could find additional information about this particular breast cancer research. He told me that a friend of his was working on the breast cancer research team and he could find out what type of results they are getting with the patients that have been taking the treatments. He called me a few days later and shared that the results have been very good. He also thought that it was a plus for my sister that she was chosen for the treatments, because they are only taking candidates that have a good chance of responding to the treatments. The breast cancer research project has been working on this cure for over ten years, so they need to show great results to keep the project going.

My sister had her first treatment seventeen months ago and the lump and all signs of cancer are gone. She is in a long term follow up group so they are checking her often for any changes. She did not have to have the surgery and she is back to doing all the activities that she had done previously.

There are lots of ways to pass time on a trip. Of course, there are conversations, card games, listening to music, and even having sing-alongs. But my favorite way to pass the time during those long miles is with brain teasers.

Usually, we will find some free printable brain teasers on the Internet before we go on a car trip. There are all kinds of online puzzles and games available that you can either print out or play on your computer. The kids especially love them, and it is easy to find one to the right level of difficulty. Most of them are simple logic puzzles that, with a little bit of diligent work, can be quite easily resolved. Finding hard brain teasers is, of course, a little bit difficult, but it can be done.

Sudoku puzzles are a great form of brainteaser. Sudokus are basically a type of logic puzzle that has become very popular in recent years. They are different rows and columns of numbers that you have to get to match up in just the right way. The only way to do it is through trial and error. You look at the pattern, try to find numbers that match it, And work through it until you find the right combination.

Of course, one of the most classic brain teasers is the crossword puzzle. Papers all over the world have crossword puzzles, but my favorite one is in the New York Times Sunday edition. After all, it is nice to have a whole book filled with logic puzzles so that you can go through them, page after page at your leisure. The way that I do it is to download some free puzzles on the Internet to see which ones I like. Then, when I find a style that fits me, I buy a brain teaser book. I usually have two or three for a long road trip.

The world hasn't seen anything like Beatlemania. Every time, the Beatles took to the stage, they were greeted by screaming fans. They couldn't even hear themselves play. This, combined with some security scares and the endless traveling, persuaded the band to stop touring. Their last official live concert was the Beatles Candlestick Park performance in San Francisco in August 1966.

The 24,000 fans in the stadium that day, did not realise that they were witnessing an historical event. The Beatles had not announced their imminent retirement from live shows. Because of their inability to hear what they were playing on stage, the performances had become shorter and shorter. In fact, this last Beatles Candlestick Park concert only lasted, just over thirty minutes.

The park had opened in 1960 and was more used to sporting events. Today, it's the home ground for the NFL San Francisco 49ers. On that day in August, the stadium rang to the sound of some of the band's most popular songs. Their set included She's a Woman, Day Tripper, I Feel Fine and Yesterday. They also went back to their rock and roll roots and sang Long Tall Sally.

There is quite a bit of merchandise attached to the legendary gig. The band's publicity agent taped the concert on a cassette recorder and bootleg recordings of this are available. There is also a market in posters, advertising the Beatles Candlestick Park gig, and in tickets from the show.

It was thought, for a long time, that there wasn't any moving footage of the concert. This was until some footage turned up that was shot by a young American fan, who was present that day. Some of this was shown in a BBC television documentary. DVDs are now for sale with footage from the Beatles Candlestick Park event. If it had happened today, it probably would have been a carefully marketed event with the entire concert, captured for posterity.

The only occasion when The Beatles got together for a live performance after the Beatles Candlestick Park show was when they made an unannounced appearance on top of a London rooftop. This was filmed for the Let It Be film. It was an exciting journey from the damp cellar of the Cavern club in Liverpool to Candlestick Park. They were the first band to perform in sports stadiums but it's commonplace now. After they stopped touring, the band spent their time in the recording studio, making the classic albums that are still so popular today.

One of the most classic activities in Hawaii is the luau. If you are only going there for a week or two, give up the idea of seeing a traditional Hawaiian luau – they are very hard to find, and generally closed off to tourists. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't go to see one, however. You will be able to enjoy delicious Kahlua pork, fire dancing, drinks, music, and good company. Add to this the scenic backdrop of the beach and the sound of the waves crashing over and over again as the warm tropical trade winds blow ceaselessly, and you're all set up for a heck of a good time.

I would love to say that I have the time to whip up amazing meals each night. There are a few problems with that thought.
